About Me

Eating Out with Kids

Hi. My name is Laurie Taylor. My husband Max and I have four children all under the age of twelve. One of the things we enjoy doing as a family is having a night out eating at a restaurant. You are probably thinking, "They enjoy eating at restaurants with four young children?" Yes, it can prove to be a challenge at times, but for the most part we have found ways to keep the children happy, and we all have a great time. There have been many times when other patrons have come up to us and comment on how well behaved our children are. I would like to share some of the ways we make eating out as a family an enjoyable experience for all. From toddler to Daddy, everyone has a lovely evening.

How To Create A Fast Food-Themed Event Menu

If you're planning a casual party or get-together for friends and family members, a fast food-themed menu is sure to please guests of all ages. While you can have the event professionally catered, many fast food-inspired dishes are easy to make at home. If you don't mind putting in a little effort in the kitchen, you'll be able to save money and completely customize your menu to include healthy options as well. As another idea, you can just pick up food from your favorite local burger joint.

A fast food-themed menu is ideal for a variety of laid-back special events, such as a child or adult's birthday bash, a graduation party, a summer holiday backyard celebration, and even bridal and baby showers. You can even make the menu work for a fancier soiree by using gourmet ingredients to make your hamburgers, hot dogs, and other comfort foods.

When designing your fast food-themed party menu, include items that will appeal to guests with special dietary concerns and needs as well. For instance, serve veggie burgers for your vegetarian and vegan friends, as well as gluten-free bread and buns.

Here are some fun party food ideas to get you started:

1. A Burger Bar

Set up a build-your-own burger bar to allow guests to create their own culinary masterpieces. Start with the basics, such as buns and grilled veggie and regular burgers, and then have fun with the toppings. Some options include the classic sliced tomatoes, red onions, and pickles, but you can get creative by serving items such as grilled mushrooms, fried eggs, and crispy onion straws as well.

In addition to ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise, consider making a few gourmet sauces, such as garlic aioli, peppercorn ranch, and a spicy Cajun remoulade as well. Round out bar with a selection of sliced cheese.

2. Make-Your-Own Pizza Station

Perfect for kids' birthday parties, a make-your-own pizza station allows young guests to get creative in the kitchen. Pizza base ideas include traditional dough or English muffins, which are easy for young children to handle and customize.

Set up the station with serving bowls of marinara sauce, shredded mozzarella cheese, as well as a variety of toppings such as diced tomatoes and onions, pepperoni slices, sliced, sauteed mushrooms, and green pepper rings. More adventurous ingredients include feta cheese, shitake mushrooms, grilled asparagus, arugula, and smoked salmon, which are sure to please the guests in the group.
